These images were taken at the Carrie Furnace and the surrounding areas in Pittsburgh, PA. When I grew up on Pittsburgh's north side, this and many other plants were still very much part of the industrial landscape. Presently, only a few mini-mills are still operating. These photographs are part of a project and a book that I did called “Ghosts of the Machine Age.”
